It's time to think spring!

Spring is coming, and its time to get ready! That means a little bit of spring cleaning too — so why not do it in style? When it comes to freshening things up for spring, we absolutely love The Laundress NY line of laundry and cleaning products to get the job done.

Here are some tips and tricks for washing, sprucing and storing your delicate fabrics (such as your favourite blankets or sweaters) items courtesy of The Laundress NY:

STAINS

When dealing with fabric stains, always pretreat with Stain Solution or the Wash & Stain Bar. Focus on susceptible areas such as underarms, necklines, and cuffs.

HAND WASHING

Hand Washing is always the best and safest method for washing delicate materials (ex: wool), as dry-cleaning solvents and enzyme-containing detergents will degrade the yarns.

Add 2 capfuls or a squirt of Wool & Cashmere Shampoo to a washbasin or sink filled with cool water.

Submerge the item and gently agitate the water with your hands to evenly distribute soap. Soak for up to 30 minutes.

Rinse well by running cool water through the item until the water is no longer soapy. Do not wring. Instead, press the water out of the item.

MACHINE WASHING

Select the woolens or delicate cycle on the washing machine, and make sure the water temperature is cold and the spin is on low.

Add the appropriate amount of Wool & Cashmere Shampoo according to the machine and load size. Remove promptly from the washing machine to reduce creasing.

DRYING AND STORAGE

Remember, always lay the item flat in its natural shape on a drying rack or clean towel. Do not put it in the dryer! Knit items should be stored folded to prevent stretching or distorting.

DE-PILL

Remove pills on finer-gauge knits, such as lightweight sweaters, T-shirts, or pants, by gliding the Sweater Comb across pilled areas. Always work tool in one direction.

When wool fibres become loose, they form little balls or pills. Pilling is a direct result of friction (which naturally occurs with movement), so the more you wear an item, the more likely it is to pill.

Spring also means our new stock is arriving soon after our shopping weeks in January! We’re so excited to introduce lots of brand new items — some of which will be exclusive to our store and are being sold for the first time in Canada! So stayed tuned — we know you’ll love these products as much as we do!

Additionally, we are launching a new project within Grace & Co. and plans are underway! With many involved in the success of the launch, I really want thank them in advance for all the work we have been pouring into this baby. Stay tuned in to our instagram and facebook for upcoming announcements!

I hope this months brings you joy and lets hope that green grass is only 6 weeks away!

With care,
Dorota
